The Declining Number of Youth in Custody in the Juvenile Justice System (FOCUS)
A review of data from OJJDP shows that overall numbers and rates of custody for youth have declined nationwide in the decade since 1997. We examine custody trends by individual states, gender, race/ethnicity, and offense type.
